Biography Of Dr. Layne Heitz Essay - 734 Words

On October 12, 2015, I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Layne Heitz. He is a math professor that specializes in teaching math teachers. I was able to learn about how Dr. Heitz has arisen to the position he is at now. From this interview, I learned many things about his life and my experience has helped me in deciding my major. I observed the place he teaches and works in, I also learned about his accomplishment. For example, the committees he is a member of and his publications. Overall, the interview was very discerning and interesting. Dr. Heitz’s office is in the Math building which is also where his classes are held. This semester he is teaching four classes. The math building is very old and may need remodeling. It is also smaller compared to other buildings on campus. His office is located in the far northwest corner and is easily accessible. He has an open space in his office for any guests but his desk was slightly cluttered and his walls were filled with objects that reflect his life, both his professional and his personal life. There is at least one picture of one of his two sons. There are two painting made by his wife April. One is of a tiger and the other is of a fox. There are also deer and duck mounts on the wall by his desk. There were certificates and awards on the wall for the committees he’s on and his diploma. Dr. Heitz is in his 50’s and he is from Texas.
